NZTC scholarship enables student to further studies in ECE

Charlotte Taylor has always had a passion for inspiring and teaching young children.
After completing a Bachelor of Communications degree, she started working at an early childhood centre with the hopes of pursuing an early childhood education qualification in the future.
However, when the opportunity to study a Graduate Diploma in Teaching (Early Childhood Education) with New Zealand Tertiary College (NZTC) at reduced fees came along, she jumped at the chance to further her studies sooner than anticipated.
I already had a full-time job working in an early childhood centre when an email about the scholarship opportunities at NZTC came through – I jumped at the chance. These opportunities don’t come around very often and it was an incentive to commence study earlier than expected,” explained Charlotte.
NZTC’s flexible learning modes suited her work situation perfectly, enabling her to continue working at the ECE centre while studying.
“I have found online study very effective whilst working full-time. NZTC provides a very well laid out structure for each assessment and, although you don’t necessarily meet all your fellow students in person, there is a collaborative community online, which has been very supportive.
“The lecturers are quick to respond to online questions, and the Block Courses have been a wonderful way to meet the lecturers in person and discuss any questions related to assignments. You are well supported throughout the program.”
Charlotte is grateful that she was able to upskill with NZTC, and encourages other students who want to pursue a career in ECE to take up the college’s early childhood scholarship opportunities.
“NZTC provides a supportive training ground, shapes and challenges your thinking, and helps you become an effective teacher. It has been such a rewarding course to be a part of.”
